MISSION: To find a job in the entertainment industry doing what I love, designing websites and managing them. Also the
chance to learn something new along the way.
I’ve been design website since my senior year in high school.
I went in taking that class not knowing what I was getting into.
But as the class went on, I realized that I actually liked the whole idea of designing sites.
But never thought about doing it for a career. As the end of my senior year came close to graduating
I still had no idea what I wanted to major in because I’ve always changed my mind on things but as my
friend introduced me to the school she decided to apply for graphics I gave that a shot. I got accepted to
attend Platt College in Ontario, California.
Right after graduation I started college.
I arrive there just knowing Web Design and nothing about Graphic Design.
I knew how to use Photoshop but that was about it. Time went on and I majored in Graphic Design and got my
Associate of Arts in Graphic Design. For me that wasn’t enough. I wanted to learn Web Design. So the college
offered a Certificate of Multimedia. There I got to learn how to do basic video editing, 3D, Flash Animation,
and yes Web Design. I’ve learn so much being there for that certificate that during that pointed in time the college
had a new program where they offered a Bachelor Degree in Interactive Web Design. Since I liked what I learn in the
multimedia program I was definitely taking that Bachelor program they offered for a more advance education in Web Design.
Going into that Bachelor program not knowing what to expect since it was a new program and the first
school in their branch that offered it was a challenge for me, because I didn’t know if it was going
to be more intense than the other programs since it was of higher learning. During the program I’ve
learn a bit more but not as much as I wanted to learn. It’s showed me other languages that a web site
can be coded in and how to use it in a basic site. Before I’ve only heard of PHP, JavaScript, CGI and Perl.
But I really didn’t know what they really did until I took those classes.
I graduated in 2005 right after graduation I had my first internship at Fanscape.
I’ve always loved the music industry so that was my choice to get me a step closer
to that industry. My internship was 5 months long. There I got the chance to learn
about online/offline marketing in the music industry. I got the chance to run street
teams for several music artists. During my time in the internship I got the chance to see
many of my favorite artist live in concert, which was a huge plus. After my internship was
done I was hired to do a freelance project. Since then I’ve been doing freelance work here and there.
I enjoy most of my freelance work that I’ve done in the past. But on the side I like to take on
personal project so I can expand my knowledge of Web Design and apply it to my freelance work.
One of my side projects is A Silent Army. It’s a clothing company my friend started. My job
was to design the site and update it as much as possible. Doing that site it gave me the chance
to test scripts that maybe in the near future I would get to used on a client’s site. Also, this
site gave me the chance to pick up where I left off from school and expand my knowledge of web design.
To this day I’m still learning Web Design as I go on. Everyday is a learning experience for
me and it will always be that way. I'm a fast learn and I'm up for the challenge to learn something new!
